Gerald (Jerry) Keehan, 87 of Manitowoc, passed away unexpectedly on February 17, 2023.
Jerry was born on December 2, 1935, in Kellnersville to Lawrence and Christine (Wilhem) Keehan. He married Gwendolyn Bull on July 1, 1959, who preceded him in death in 1970. On April 28, 1972, Jerry married Janice Hall who preceded him in death in 2022.
Jerry was born on the farm in Kellnersville and remained there until he joined the U.S. Air Force. After 4 years in the service, he came back to Manitowoc and worked at Manitowoc Shipbuilders until he became a Manitowoc Firefighter in 1963. He retired from the department after 31 years in May of 1994. During his firefighting career and retirement, Jerry delivered appliances and TVs for Schuette's and often recruited one of his sons to help.
In his younger years, Jerry liked to golf, throw horseshoes, play cards, fish and always knew how to have fun. He was an avid member of the Manitowoc Eagles where you could find him most afternoons having a Bud Light with friends. Jerry was one of the best and will be missed by many.
Jerry is survived by his children: Julie (Carl) Stueck, Scott (Bette) Keehan, Jeffery (Debbie) Keehan, Michael (Michele) Keehan and Amy (Tim) Groeschel; stepchildren: Scott Hall (Stacy) and Chris Hall.
Grandchildren: Kyle Keehan (fiancé Kevin Du), Austin Keehan (fiancé Kayla Hackl), Aaron Keehan, Alex Keehan, Ryan Keehan, Rachel (Michael) Jahns, Brendan (Kelli) Keehan, Gwendolyn Groeschel, Caden Groeschel and Natania Hall (Lexi). And great grandson Callen Jahns.
Sisters: Jeanne (Richard) Guenther and Lois (Larry) Waack. Sisters-in-law: Marian Keehan and Joan Keehan. Brother-in-law Butch (Judy) Bull. Sisters-in-law: Sandy Bull, Karen Carlo, Mary Beth (Dan) Karbon, Laurie Langley, Wendy (Porfirio) Ortiz, Vicki (Kurt) Pegel, Pam Kuehnl and Rosa Kuehnl. Brother-in-law James (Debbie) Kuehnl. Additionally, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends survive.
He is additionally preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Christine Keehan; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edward (Vivian) Keehan, Lawrence (Beatrice) Keehan and Jerome Keehan; sisters and brothers-in-law: Margaret (Don) Noack, Dolores (Louis) Remiker, Caroline (Ned) Kohlbeck and Donna Keehan; brothers-in-law: Jerry Bull, David Kuehnl, Steven Kuehnl, Butch Kaderabek and Larry Langley, sister-in-law Sandy Kaderabek.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 11:00 am at Peace United Church of Christ/ Lakeshore Life Celebration Center, 3613 Waldo Blvd., Manitowoc, with Deacon Alan Boeldt officiating. Military Honors will be accorded after the service. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the church from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
