Gerald Bradley Konst, Jerry (Jerr Bear) as everyone in his life knew him, passed away at his home on February 20, 2025, after suffering for years of SCA3 (Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 3, AKA Machado-Joseph disease, which is a rare, inherited neurodegenerative disorder that affects the cerebellum and other parts of the brain involved in coordination and movement. He was born on May 19, 1967, in Elizabeth, CO, to Terrance and Patricia Konst. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia, who also had this terrible disease. He is survived by his father Terrance Konst (Walden, CO), wife Tammy Konst (Loveland, CO), stepson and his family Nick Witek, Meagan Witek, Annie Witek (Barrington, IL), and cousins within the state of Colorado.
Jerry grew up in Colorado and graduated from the Colorado School of Mines obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Engineering in May 1989. While attending college at Mines, he played on the Football and LaCross team.
He proceeded in continuing his education in Houston, Texas obtaining a Master of Science from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Following graduation, he pursued his life passion in Chemical Engineering, beginning with working for the Union Carbide Corporation for 12 years as a Maintenance Systems Manager, a Business Process Consultant, finalizing his position there as a UCON Fluids Product & Marketing Manager.
In 2001, Jerry accepted a position with The Dow Chemical Corporation holding various managerial positions from 2001 to 2013. He held the position of Associate Director of Global Product Marketing.
Jerry met his wife Tammy during his tenure at Dow, and they married on August 19, 2005. Although Jerry and Tammy did not have any children together, Jerry lovingly brought Tammy's son Nicholas Witek (Nick), age of six at the time, into his life as if he were his son. Nick and Jerry were very close. Jerry and Tammy also have three stepchildren, Shawna Witek, Natalie Witek (Premkumar) and Curtis Witek.
When Dow Chemical closed their IL office location, Jerry and Tammy decided to retire early from the company and relocate to Loveland, CO to be close to Jerry's father. When arriving in CO, Jerry accepted another new position in Greeley, CO with Envirotech Services Inc. as a Business Development Manager. He stayed with this company until his final retirement.
Jerry had a passion for outdoor life, fishing, and hunting with his father, loved to travel the entire world which he accomplished according to the four full passports Tammy found, but his biggest love was horses and roping in rodeo competitions and classic cars. He roped in rodeos as a young child all through his youth into his teens and high school and had fun in his later years driving his 1967 Camaro he restored. He has made such close friends his entire life and all around the world. He could not wait to attend the Mines college football games with his best friends and enjoy great laughs, discuss old times, and have several beers with them.
Jerry will always be remembered for his loving dedication to his family, his extremely strong work ethic and morals, his love for life and adventure, and his stubbornness combined with his jokes and humor. Jerry's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A special note Tammy found he had left on his computer. "Dad, Tammy, Nick - this isn't goodbye. I will watch over you and see you again someday. Love always, Jerry."

Dear Tammy and family. I just learned today about Jerry's passing. I am so very very sorry and I will miss him so much. Even when he would just post a like on a picture, I knew he was thinking of us and I have always thought so dearly of him and you both! My heart is just broken because, in our youth, he was the best of friends. Praying for you all as time has passed, that comfort and beautiful memories abound.
