Gerald Lee LeMaire, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at his residence in Cow Island, La. Funeral services officiated by Deacon William "Billy" Vincent will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan. He will be laid to rest at LeMaire Cemetery.
Gerald was an avid sports fan. He grew up playing baseball and even continued to play in his early adult years. He enjoyed watching LSU, The Saints, and kept up with the Kaplan Pirates scores during Friday night lights. He is a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served our country as a Light Air Defense Artillery Crewman (MOS) at Fort Polk, Fort Bliss, and in the Vietnam war.
He had a love for horses, Corvettes, and a good meal, especially at his beloved mother, Pearly's house, famous in our family for her gumbo. On Friday nights you could spot his truck at Hebert's where he would walk in, and the girls knew what to bring to his table before he even sat down. He was a charmer. He was a tough man, but behind the exterior, he truly had a heart for his girls, and his grandchildren alike. He fought until he couldn't anymore, and will be missed by many, as we hold his memory in our hearts.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. The visitation will continue Wednesday, November 19, 2025, from 8:00 AM until the services at 11:00 AM.
