Gerald Lemon Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 28, 2022.
Our unique, funny, and warm husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, son, and friend died on October 26th, 2022 in Murray, Utah surrounded by his family.
Gary was born in Ottawa, Kansas on June 14th, 1952. He moved to Holladay, Utah when he was 7 years old with his parents and two brothers. He knew in middle school that he wanted to be an architect. After graduating from Olympus High School, he went on to get his Associates from Utah Technical College, which he loved. He had a 43 year-long career as an architect with Naylor Wentworth Lund. He was lucky enough to work alongside his brother Ron. He especially enjoyed designing schools throughout Utah.
He married Colleen Nelson Lemon on December 7th, 1973. They had a passionate, fulfilling, and loving marriage. They went on to have two sons, Brandon Wayne and Gary Brett, whom he loved very much. He loved to be a Dad; he was a very present father. He always looked forward to being their baseball coach, and was their biggest cheerleader throughout his life. He often said he was "Damn proud!". He went on to raise his two granddaughters, Kaitlin Ariel and Hailee Alayne, who were the light of his life. He had two more beautiful granddaughters, Bella Ilene and Alice Colleen, who loved to tease him. He felt fortunate enough to have two great grandchildren, Edith Stacy and Elliot Collin; they love their "Obpop."
Gary was a lover of music and he had a very refined taste. You could always find him jamming out to 60's rock. He learned to play the drums at age 66, and he performed the song Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival. Another love of his life was his 1968 Chevy Nova, which he showed off at car shows.
One thing friends and family always noted was Gary's booming voice and loving character. He loved to tease and make people laugh. His famous catchphrase was "OH MY HELL!". Gary made everyone feel loved and accepted and his impact is far reaching and his presence in our lives will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his son Brandon and his father James. He is survived by his wife Colleen, his mother Alice (95!), his brothers Bob (Laura) and Ron (Nina), his son Brett (Tory), and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
