Gerald Madden Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
GERALD (JERRY/GW) MADDEN
SEPTEMBER 14, 1944 TO NOVEMBER 1, 2025 AGE 81
Gerald William Madden passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 1, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Michelle JoAnn Madden. Sons Jeffrey (Heidi), Daniel (Carrie), and daughter Karen (Shawn). Grandchildren Kaesha (Matt), Carlie, Patrick, Danielle (Mitch), Timothy, Zachary, Jason, Marinna, Lucas, Layni, Lilah, Reid, Samantha (Deonate), and Joseph as well as many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father James, mother Elaine, brothers John, Jimmy, and Harvey (cousin but grew up as brothers).
He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and grew up in northeast Minneapolis and graduated from Edison High in 1962. He went on to proudly serve in the US Army Military Police from 1965 to 1967 during the Vietnam war. He served over in Vietnam during the same time as his brother John. His parents James and Elaine had to sign a waiver allowing more than one brother to serve in country at the same time.
Upon returning home Gerald married the love of his life Michelle Hitchens in the Spring in 1970. They started their lives together in Northeast Minneapolis and welcomed three children Jeffrey, Daniel, and Karen. Eventually moving from the Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood up to the North Branch Minnesota area where all 3 children would later graduate High School from.
Gerald built a career spanning from the Soo Line Railroad, GSC Auction Service (part owner), eventually settled into a fine career as a truck driver which he would remain doing through his retirement.
Gerald had a commanding presence, was outgoing and had a great sense of humor (sometimes at the expense of his children lol). He was loved by so many and will be greatly missed.
Gerald will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025.
