Gerald Reid Maness, 66, of Midland, passed away on Friday March 21, 2025. He went peacefully in the recliner of his nearly completed dream home after spending his first night there. He was born on May 2, 1958, to the late Jimmy and Sylvia Caudle Maness.
Most of Gerald’s adult work life was owning and operating Gerald Maness Concrete Company. Gerald was committed to pouring the best concrete and did not cut corners. His employees, Irving, Andreas and Pedro were some of his best friends and they have been loyal to a fault even after his death.
His survivors include sister Melanie Jerman (Ashley Jerman); brothers Jeffrey Maness and Derek Maness; three children, Casey (Brittany Maness), Garrett Maness and Savannah Maness (Jordan Winebarger); and three grandchildren, Tristan, Asher and Allie that he loved beyond measure and of whom he was so proud.
Gerald was an avid sportsman who came alive walking through the woods looking for tracks while hunting or out on the ocean or a lake fishing. He hunted all over the country and enjoyed the camaraderie he found with his best buddies Mike Wynn, the late Danny Hood, Randy Clontz, Ashley Jerman, Jerry Herlocker and Bobby Purser.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Saturday March 29, 2025, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. As he would have wanted, a celebration will follow at his new home on Hopewell Church Road. The family hopes his friends and relatives will stand and share special memories about Gerald. There must be so many!
In lieu of flowers, donations to American Kidney Foundation in Gerald’s memory will be appreciated at American Kidney Foundation
