Gerald Alan McWilliams, 80, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
Jerry was born October 21, 1945, in Jeffersonville, Indiana (along with his twin sister, Gail) to Robert L. and Iris L. (Jones) McWilliams. He grew up in Battle Creek, Michigan. Jerry was a graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, class of 1963. During the Vietnam War he honorably served in the United States Army in France and Germany. Jerry was employed in Chicago by the Grand Trunk Western Railroad “GTWRR” Police Department. He also worked for GTWRR in Battle Creek as a railroad police officer.
Jerry is survived by a niece, Laura (William Depew) McWilliams of Richmond, KY. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother and father; his stepfather, Robert McCleery and a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Jenny McWilliams.
Jerry was an avid fisherman, hunter and photographer. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his kindness and sense of humor.
A service to recognize his life, patriotism and service to his country will be held later this spring or summer at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Michigan Land Conservancy.
