Gerald Jerry Christian Nordskog, 86, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on April 9, 2025. He was born on June 21, 1938, in Los Angeles, California, to Robert and Elinor Nordskog.
Jerry graduated from Canoga Park High School and Pierce College, where he was student body VP and received the first annual Dr. Clarence W. Pierce Scholarship award in 1957.
In 1958, he began working at Nordskog Industries, a manufacturer of airline galleys, which his parents started in 1951. During Jerrys 47-year career in the family business, it successfully expanded to include Nordco Products, International Flight Service, Nordskog Marine Center, Nordskog Competition Center, the Los Angeles Skyhawks professional soccer team, Nordskog Electric Vehicles, and Powerboat Magazine.
He shone as Chairman of the National Day of Prayer and was awarded for his service to the Salvation Army. In 1987, he first published the Bell Ringer, a Christian-geopolitical national journal currently in digital newsletter format. Jerry entered the Christian book publishing industry in 2006 with Nordskog Publishing.
Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast and a prolific waterskier. He competed in the offshore Catalina race using a single ski. Throughout his youth, he played various sports and closely followed the baseball, football, and basketball seasons. As a father, he enjoyed playing catch with his kids and never missed a performance or a game. He often took the neighborhood children to the park for baseball games, and his kids cherish fond memories of motorcycle riding with him.
During his business career, Jerry traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world. He was a kind, generous, humble, honest family man. Above all, he was a dedicated Christian, always putting Jesus first and devoting his life to serving the Kingdom of Christ.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail; children Mike, Erik, Aubrie, Tarah, Hannah, Christy, Daniel, and Emma; grandchildren, Alexandra, Adam, Andrew, Anthony, Brandon, Conner, Lua, Dylan, Beija, and Arielle; and great-grandson, Christian.
