Gerald was always helpful and caring to the Dolan family - even when 6 to 7 Dolan children would show up at his State Line office for exams/shots. I imagine we took up most of the morning. :) :)

He helped me get a job at Baptist Memorial as a OR orderly - I was there was there for several years.

Thanks Uncle Gerald

Dr. O'Connell was the attending physician at my birth on May 18, 1960 at Babtist Memorial Hospital in KC. We lived in Belton, at the time, and my dad worked at Richards-Gebaur Air Force Base.

Dr. O'Connell was our family physician in 1957, an era when doctors made house calls. I came down with nephritis on a family trip when I was in kindergarten, and Dr. O'Connell had me admitted to a local hospital. After two weeks of multiple penicillin shots per day I was discharged, and Dr. O'Connell came by the house every day for weeks and gave me a shot. I wasn't happy about it then, but I appreciate it now. It sounds like he had a long, happy and productive life.

Dr Gerald was my doctor from 9 yrs old in 1957 till he retired un 2000. He delivered my children. I always thought very highly of Dr Gerald. He was like family. He tended my parents and came to their funerals. May he forever rest in peace.

I happened across this obituary today as I did a reverse number check on a telephone scammer. Apparently, the number had formerly belonged to Dr Gerald. I am sad to learn of his passing. He made a difference in so many lives!

I am a retired RN who worked at St Mary's Hospital from 1976-1980. I remember Dr O'Connell well as he would come by our medical floor every day to see his patients. He would always greet the nurses cheerily!

He and Dr Frank were quite the pair. I remember that they used to speak of experiences with their father. Their patients liked them.

My condolences to their family and friends.

Sorry for your loss. Uncle Gerald was a good man. He helped me through some bad times that I created. Most of the time I was glad to see him even when had a needle behind his back. I remember helping he and Frank set up the Stateline office - they had music playing out of wall speakers/intercom. very kewl for the 60's.

You will remember all the good times - enjoy them. Any "not so good" memories will cease to exist. Good thoughts and energy to one and all. Tim Dolan (Mary Alice and Dan Dolan)

Dear Susan,
Please accept my condolences on the passing of your Father. It is always a shock and to soon when you lose a parent. I know you have been doing everything you could (along with your siblings) for your Dad the last couple of years. He has left a wonderful legacy and I rejoice for his life well lived.

I have known hundreds of physicians and I can say that both Gerald and his brother Frank were among the very finest and I miss them both. My condolences to their families.

I worked for Dr. Gerald for almost two decades. Anna Lea hired me as she was having to fill in until someone was found. Little did I know that I would have lifelong friendships with my coworkers. The office was a family atmosphere. If our kids were sick, we made a cot in the back room for them. There are to many memories to share. One of my favorite jobs was to restock his black medical bag. He made house calls several times a week. His most important rule was never bother me on thursdays. That was golf day. He despised the day he got a pager. The hospitals paged him instead of calling the office on thursdays. Linda, Nancy, Susan and Michael you are in my thoughts and prayers. It's never easy to loose a parent, no matter what the circumstances. I'm so glad I worked in the time that quality patient care was a reality.
