Gerald Ray Powell, 64, of Quitman, passed away at his home on Sunday, September 1, 2024. Ray was born on October 17, 1959 in Dallas, TX to Alice Maud Petty and Willie Gerald Powell.

Ray was a beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and Papaw. He loved spending time with his family, dogs, and grandkids. Ray had a passion for antiquing and woodworking and could be found piddling in his workshop in his free time. He also enjoyed fishing with his sons and grandchildren.

He was greeted in Heaven by his parents, Alice Petty and Willie Gerald Powell; his son, SGT. Joshua David Powell; and numerous grandparents and other family members.

Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife, Brenda Powell of Quitman; his son, Jeremy Powell and wife Jessica of Quitman; his daughter-in-law, Marina Powell Feustel of Corpus Christi; and his 6 grandchildren, Landen, Chloey, Casen, Liam, Joshua, and Haiyden. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, Kathy Lutonsky and husband Walter Jr. of Quitman; brother, Faron Petty and wife Michelle of Mt. Vernon; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends.

Graveside service for Ray Powell will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Rock Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday evening, September 6, 2024 at Lowe-Gardner Funerals & Cremations.
