Gerald Dallas Prudhomme was born on August 22, 1934, and died at his residence at the age of 88, in Rambin Community Friday, January 27, 2023, after a lengthy illness. His funeral will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at St. Mary’s Chapel in Rambin, La. with Father Mark Franklin officiating, with burial following afterward in St. Mary’s Cemetery. A vigil service will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Alicia Chamberlin Prudhomme; a son, Gerald Anthony (Tony) Prudhomme; a daughter, Rosemarie Prudhomme McHugh, and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Ben and Sarah McHugh, and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Armstrong Prudhomme; brother, John Prudhomme; and sisters, Elaine Prudhomme and Janice Droddy.
He lived his early years in Frierson, La., then moved with his family to Mansfield where he graduated from high school, then joined the U.S. Navy. He retired from Hendrix Mfg. Co. and the D.O.T.D.
Jerry lived the last 50 years of his life in the Rambin Community, which he dearly loved. Being close to nature was special to him, walking in the woods with his dogs and cats and enjoying the beautiful creation all around him. He kept the squirrels and birds fed, especially the hummingbirds. They were very special to him.
Gerald Dallas deeply loved his family and extended family, and they were all such a pleasure to him. He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mansfield, where he served as an altar boy many years ago when he was the only Altar Boy!
Honoring Jerry as pallbearers will be Frank Gill, Angelo Chamberlin, Kevin Chamberlin, Michael Chamberlin, Mark Chamberlin, Eric Chamberlin, Terry Chamberlin, and Jakob Varnell.
