Gerald Richardson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Shaffer Funeral Home - Sherwood on Aug. 30, 2025.
Gerald Ivert Richardson, known affectionately as Jerry to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, in San Angelo, Texas. His life was a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit, and he will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Born to Guy Edward Richardson and Dorothy Blades, Gerald was a man of honor and integrity. His early years were shared with his brothers Bob, Bill, Junior, and Danny Richardson, all of whom preceded him in death. Gerald's life was marked by a deep commitment to family, and he was a devoted husband to his late wife, Phyllis Richardson, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.

Gerald's legacy continues through his loving sons and their wives: Jerry Michael and Carol Richardson, Jeffrey Alan and Lana Richardson, Brian Paul and Michelle Richardson. He was a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy and pride to his life. The values he instilled in them will live on for generations to come.

A patriot at heart, Gerald served his country with honor and distinction as a twenty-year veteran of the United States Air Force. His tenure from 1959 to 1979 was filled with dedication and a sense of duty that he carried with him long after his service ended. Gerald's work ethic and commitment to excellence were an inspiration to his fellow servicemen and women.

In his retirement, Gerald enjoyed a life filled with the love of his family and friends. He was a man who valued the simple pleasures in life, finding joy in the laughter of his grandchildren and the companionship of his loved ones. His wisdom, humor, and warmth were the cornerstones of many family gatherings, and his presence will be dearly missed.

Gerald's life was a journey of love, service, and unwavering loyalty. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in the memories we shared and the knowledge that his spirit will forever be a guiding light in our lives. Gerald Ivert Richardson has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were privileged to know him, and his story will be told with admiration and respect for years to come.

The Richardson family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the community of San Angelo for the support and kindness shown to Gerald throughout his life. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, one that exemplified the virtues of courage, family, and service above self. Gerald's journey on this earth has come to a close, but his influence will continue to resonate with all who were touched by his generous spirit.
