Jerry was born on May 27, 1942 to Gilmore and Bernice (Drake) Ruyle
in Jerseyville, IL.
He served in the US Navy, Marine Corp and Air National Guard Reserves
and retired from the USCG after 30 years of service.
Jerry graduated in 1975 from Bradley University in Peoria with a degree in
Criminal Justice. He was a police officer with the Peoria, IL Police
Department retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents and siblings Harold Ruyle,
Regina DePonte, Verna Lee Gjondla and Thelma Lou Ruyle.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Margaret (Marty) Ruyle, children
Shane (Michelle) Ruyle and Cyrena Detra of Gilbert Arizona and Jacob
(Cathy) Czerkie of Ada, MI. Grandchildren, Nicholas Brownfield, Brandon
Detra, Tanner Ruyle, Nathan, Maggie and Lizzy Czerkie and great grandson Jaxon
Brownfield along with 3 nieces and a nephew.
Jerry was a lifetime member of the Amvets, American Legion, VFW and
DAV along with membership in the Elks, Moose and Eagles.
Jerry will be remembered for his dedication to military service, kindness
and fairness in policing and was held in great affection by all who knew him.
