Gerald Sanders Obituary
He will be deeply mourned and missed by his loving wife, Gene Ellen Marie Dusenbery Sanders, his sons, Gerald "lil Jerry" Sanders III and wife Kayla, James M. Sanders and his partner Leah LeBouef.
Grandchildren, Shanell Bardwell and husband Steven, Gabrielle Doppenberg and husband Alexander, Kasi Jones and husband Jovonn, Terah Domingue and husband Chris.
Great Grandchildren, Zoe, Clifford "Ford", Isabella, Alanna, Bryson, Hunter, Blake, and Daniel.
Brothers and sisters Steve Sanders, Joy Sanders Chaisson, Judith Sanders Martin, Glen Sanders, Brigette Scales, Patricia Scales.
And numerous nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews, along with his cat, Missy.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Henry Sanders Sr., mother Maude Marie Charpentier Sanders, mother by marriage Della Griffin Sanders, and younger brother Patrick Scales.
Gerald was born and raised in Chauvin, Louisiana; hunting and fishing on his grandfather's land. He excelled in basketball and played for St. Joseph Benedictine in Chauvin. Gerald H Sanders Jr. was a veteran, having proudly served in the United Sates Air Force. Although he had many passions and achievements throughout his life, he was most passionate about his family. Meeting the love of his life, Gene Ellen in 1964 and marrying her on June 15, 1968. Gerald was a kind, compassionate, and loving man. Always willing and able to lend a helping hand to family and friends. He truly will be missed by many.
A vistiation will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma at the Bayou Blue location, 635 Bayou Blue Road Houma, LA 70364, from 9am-11am; a memorial service will follow at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to your local animal shelter.
