Gerald Shor

SHOR, Gerald Tybar, born May 12, 1926 in Hattiesburg, Miss., departed on Sunday, December 6, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Bessie Shor; and his wife, Mitzi H. Shor. Gerald was raised in Raleigh, N.C. and was a resident of Richmond, Va. since 2005. Gerald was President of Shor & Associates, a commercial real estate firm. He was a member of Keneseth Beth Israel Synagogue in Richmond and Beth Meyer Synagogue in Raleigh. He was a Past Master of the Wm G. Hill Masonic Lodge in Raleigh and long time member of B'nai B'rith. He is survived by four children, Marcia Shor of Richmond, Barbara McDowell of Raleigh along with her husband, David, Michael of Charlotte, and Nathan and his wife, Nannette, of Richmond; nine grandchildren, Bryan along with his wife, Meghan, Andrew, Lauren, Marla, Rachel, Katherine, Adam and Jaclyn. Contributions can be made to The Gerald T. Shor Hillel Fund to benefit Hillel's at colleges in N.C. and Va. since Gerald dedicated over 40 years of his life to Hillel. Contributions should be sent to the Richmond Jewish Foundation, 5403 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Va. 23226. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 7, at Bliley-Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, Va. Interment to follow at 3 p.m. at Raleigh Hebrew Cemetery in Raleigh, N.C.
