GERALD THOMAS VANDERPOOL
Gerald T. Vanderpool, 72, of Kingston, died Friday, January 9, 2026 in Fisher Senior Care and Rehab Center, Mayville. He was born on November 7, 1953 in Marlette to Montgomery and Marie (Strassberg) Vanderpool. He married Sandra Phillips on April 19, 1980 in Kingston.
Jerry worked all over the country as a carpenter for residential, commercial, and custom homes. A “jack of all trades”, he could build anything, large or small. He grew up on the family farm with ten sisters and five brothers. Jerry was a life-line to many people. His door was always open and he helped many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends through the years. Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He will be remembered for his “tall tale” story telling; every time he told the stories, they included extra details and became even more interesting.
Jerry is survived by his wife of forty five years, Sandra of Kingston; children: Maria (James) Webb of Lexington; Basil Vanderpool of Kingston; Gerald (Heather) Vanderpool of Caro; Angela Vanderpool of Caro; grandchildren: Alexia Duncan, James Webb, Amelia Webb, Brody Podvin, Sawyer Podvin, Trisha Vanderpool, Katlyn Vanderpool, Blaire Vanderpool, Melina Vanderpool, Gerald Vanderpool, Brionna Vanderpool, Leigha Vanderpool, Olivia Vanderpool, Basil Jagger Vanderpool; four great grandchildren: LaNiyah, LaMarr, Winston, Lilah; siblings: Alma (Jim) Schram, Lisa (Ed) Lyons, Juanita Phillips, Marie (Tiny) DeLisle, Fred Rodriguez, Peggy Yesh; forty six nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, siblings: Sonny Vanderpool, Peter Rodriguez, John Vanderpool, Susan Jando, Ginger (Virginia) Reamer, Beth (Elizabeth) Walk, Mary Brown, Marqueta Corl.
