Gerald Hartman Wade, known affectionately as Gerry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, in Menifee, California. Born on April 15, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, Gerry's vibrant spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many throughout his 84 years.
Gerry attended Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, where he first showcased his artistic talents and developed a lifelong passion for the arts. His creative drive led him to a successful 25-year career as a Prop Master in the entertainment industry, where his keen eye for detail and his ability to bring scenes to life were highly valued. After his tenure in Hollywood, Jerry shifted gears and spent 20 years as a big rig driver, traversing the country and enjoying the open road.
A devout Christian, Gerry's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He was deeply involved in his church community and found solace and strength in his beliefs. His commitment to his faith was evident in his actions and the way he lived his life every day.
Gerry's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An exceptional saxophone player, he had a love for music that was only matched by his skill. His artistic abilities also extended to pottery, where he shaped and molded beautiful pieces that were as functional as they were decorative. A life-time member of the NRA, Gerry was an avid gun collector who respected the history and craftsmanship of each piece in his extensive collection.
A lover of animals, Gerry had a particular soft spot for dogs, especially Dachshunds, and he cherished the companionship of his feathered friends, having owned several exotic birds throughout his life. On the water, he was an accomplished bass fisherman, often found casting a line in the quiet of dawn, enjoying the serenity of nature.
Gerry was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lapidary Club in Sun City, where he shared his knowledge, skills, and camaraderie with fellow members. His talkative and extroverted nature meant he never met a stranger, and his ability to strike up a conversation with anyone was one of his most endearing qualities.
Those who knew Gerry will remember him as a man of strong will, with a heart of gold and a generous spirit. His friendly demeanor and readiness to lend a hand or an ear made him a cherished presence in any gathering.
He leaves behind his loving brother, Mark, sister-in-law Sue, and many devoted nieces and nephews. Gerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Tony, whose memories he held close to his heart.
Gerald Hartman Wade's legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and a zest for life that enriched the lives of all who knew him. His memory will be treasured and his presence deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with this remarkable man.
