Gerald Frederick Weston, 87, of Battle Ground, WA, passed away Sept. 21, 2023. He was born Nov. 9, 1935, as Gerald Wastradowski, later changing his last name to Weston. Jerry, as he was affectionately known, was a friendly and warmhearted individual who always made time for others. He had a genuine willingness to help his friends and family.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Jane; brothers, John and James; sons, Brian and Mark; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Sidney Wastradowski, and his beloved daughter, Sherri Hensler.
Jerry served four years in the Navy. After his military service, Jerry began his career with the USPS, where he worked for over 35 years and delivered mail in downtown Vancouver for 25 years.
Jerry attended mass at Sacred Heart Church in Battle Ground and St. Joseph’s in Vancouver, where he found spiritual fulfillment.
In his free time, Jerry enjoyed working in his yard, camping, engaging in conversations with friends and neighbors, and lending a helping hand to his family.
Jerry will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His warm smile, kind heart, and willingness to lend a hand will be cherished and remembered forever.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens on Nov. 3, at 2 p.m., where family and friends will gather to honor and remember Jerry’s life.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Claudia and Titel Nita, who cared for Jerry for the past nine years.
