Mr. Gerald Duane Winings of Monticello, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at his residence in Wayne County, Kentucky, having attained the age of 92 years, 5 months, and 11 days. He was born in Gays (Moultrie County), Illinois, on Friday, July 7, 1933, the son of Maurice & Eileen (Heath) Winings. Gerald was a devoted member of the Catholic faith and church. He honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years. He previously resided in Lexington, Kentucky, where he was employed as a Meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), contributing his skills and knowledge in dedicated public service. He was also a proud member of the Sportsman's Club, where he enjoyed his time with others who shared his appreciation for the outdoors. In addition to his parents, He was preceded in death by his brother, Wendell Winings.

He is survived by his wife, Lieselotte Olga (Rennig) Winings, whom he wed on May 4, 1957; sons, Thomas (& Terri) Winings of Seffner, Florida, Dean (& Kathy) Winings of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Jeff (& Kara) Winings of Bellevue, Kentucky; grandchildren, Alyssa (& Trevor) Alvarez, Kyle Winings, Keifer (& Kathryn) Winings, and Olivia Winings, great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Gray, Rhys, and Trevor Jr.

The funeral mass will be conducted on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. E.S.T. in Saint Peter Catholic Church, 1139 Old Hwy 90, Monticello, KY 42633, with Father Carlos Martinez officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 22, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will be in the Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. E.S.T., with Military Honors provided by the Monticello DAV #105.
