Geralda Casseus Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Island Memorial Funeral Home on Dec. 15, 2025.
GERALDA ETIENNE was born on November 9, 1965, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, to the parentage of Richard Casseus and Andréa Alce. She completed five (5) years of secondary education in Haiti and later pursued her passion for cooking by attending COSCOMA Culinary School. Eventually having her own restaurant in Haiti.

Geralda eventually made her way to the United States, where she adjusted with grace and determination. She was quick on her feet and learned English swiftly, while already fluent in Creole and French. Though her dedication was recognized and she was named Employee of the Month, her work was never what defined her. What truly set Geralda apart was the spirit she carried. She had a God-given light within her, a warmth and kindness that drew people in without effort. Her presence alone could fill a room, and those who encountered her felt comforted, seen, and loved. There was something holy in the way she cared for others, as if her heart spoke before her words. People stood in awe of her, not for what she did, but for who she was, a woman with a heart for service, Geralda always stepped in to help others in times of need. During the devastating 2010 earthquake in Haiti, she actively provided meals and assistance to those affected. She also courageously helped put out a fire in a building, demonstrating her selflessness and concern for the safety of others. Her life was a testament to compassion and action.

Geralda loved cooking and sewing, finding joy in creating with her hands. She enjoyed life fully and was known for her wisdom, always offering advice and guidance to those around her. She frequently traveled back to Haiti to support her family and community, never forgetting where she came from. Above all else, she was known as a mother to all, opening her heart and arms to anyone in need of love or care.

On December 7, 2025, after a long hard-fought battle Geralda Etienne was called home to be with the Lord. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jean René Pierre.
