Geraldine Chavez

With deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Geraldine (Gerri) Chavez, age 71, on August 17, 2024.

She is survived by her daughter Irene Olivas, son-in-law Adam Olivas, and their children Dominic, Nico, and Isaiah; her son Paul Chavez, daughter-in- law Jaimie Chavez, and their children Jocelyn, Julian, and Avianna. She is also survived by her sisters Dorothy (Victor) Velasquez, Angela (Al) Campos, Debbie Silva, and many nieces and nephews.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents Ted and Ida Perea, her sisters Annabelle and Vangie, and her brother Teddy. 

Gerri practiced nursing for 45+ years. She was an avid water aerobics enthusiast, and she loved her travels in the United States and abroad. She was a 31-year breast cancer survivor, and was devoted to participating in Breast Cancer walks every year.

A Catholic funeral will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at San Felipe de Neri Catholic Church, 2005 N. Plaza St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow at Old Town Reception Hall, 2026 Central Ave S.W., Albuquerque, NM 87104. Parking at the church is limited, therefore you may park at Old Town Reception Hall and walk across Central to the church.
