Mrs. Geraldine (Bruton) Flowers of Burkesville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 7, 2025, at the Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville, Kentucky having attained the age of 97 years, 11 months, and 22 days. She was born in Bow Community of Cumberland County, Kentucky on Wednesday, November 16, 1927, the daughter of James Blaine & Cora Enda (Booher) Bruton. She was of the Methodist Faith, a member of the Liberty Methodist Church, and a loving homemaker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orestus Flowers, whom she wed on February 1, 1946, siblings, Paul Bruton, Myra Wilburn, Opal Zoeller, Wilma Riddle, Russell Bruton, Vivian Page, James Bruton, Helen Melton, and grandson, Rodney D. Smith.
She is survived by her children, Beverly Kaye (& Samuel) Hoyt of Knoxville, Tennessee, Freda Carol (& Jim) Crawford, Robin Flowers (& Bill) Taylor, both of Burkesville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Cory Landon (& Shannon) Smith, Whitney (& Chelsea) Sewell, Summer (& Brad) Watson; great-grandchildren, Blaine, Mason, Madison, Brynn, Samuel, Elijah, Eden Joy, Selah, and Grace; caregivers, who are like family, Marie Cope, Patty Polston, Ladora McQueen, Cindy Choate, Lezlie Young, Ludonna Martin, Amisha Riley, Connie Asberry, Candy Bowlin, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.
The funeral service was conducted on Sunday, November 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Memory Chapel of Norris-New Funeral Home with Bro. Nickie Richards & Bro. Gary Cash officiating, and special music provided by Tillie Cowherd. Burial was in the Liberty Cemetery in Cumberland County, Kentucky. Casket Bearers were Whitney Sewell, Brad Watson, Blaine Watson, Bill Taylor, Cory Smith, Mark Neal, Jade Gingritch, and Nickie Richards. In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to the Liberty Cemetery Fund.
Norris-New Funeral Home of Burkesville, Kentucky, was honored to be in charge of all arrangements.
