Geraldine M. Kruth

 

Geraldine M. Kruth of Hemlock, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 98 years on October 21, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born to Bert L. and Anna (Rohde) Tilden on July 13, 1925, in Midland County. She was a 1943 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. On June 22, 1946, Gerry was united in marriage to Vernie H. Kruth, who passed away in March of 1991 after 44 years of marriage. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock, serving on Mary Martha and Altar Guild. Gerry was a school bus driver for Hemlock Community Schools as well as SISD, retiring in 1986. She sold real estate, was an avid bowler, and was past president of Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards, and spending time at her cottage in Au Gres. Because of her concern for others, Gerry delivered Meals on Wheels, helped with her church’s funeral dinners, and volunteered for over 20 years at Covenant Cooper. Gerry was devoted to her family and was dearly loved in return.

Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Marie (Tom) Coleman of St. Charles and Marlene (Michael) Stavely of Hemlock; five grandchildren, Kelli (Rev. Matthew) Dent of Standish, Jenni (Lee) Howell of Maryville, TN, T.J. (Carrie) Coleman of Saginaw, and Jason (Heather Warzech) Stavely of Saginaw, Peter (Amanda) Stavely of Mayville; great-grandchildren, Jonathan and Natalie Dent, Piper and Sophie Howell, Alexis Stavely, and Austin, Claire and Zachary Stavely; one sister-in-law, Arlene Keel of Saginaw; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Gerry was preceded in death by her sisters, brother, and brothers-in-law, Lorraine Tilden, Frances and Thomas Neville, Bonnie and Carl Wardin, and Loring Tilden.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. – 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Rd, Hemlock, MI 48626. Friends may also visit with the family at the church from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 11 a.m. Rev. Dr. William L. Morris will officiate the service with interment to follow in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider St. Peter Lutheran Church.
