Geralynn A. DeCleene, age 66, of Appleton, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday December 24th. She was born in the city of Appleton on June 9th 1957 to the late Lawrence and Leona (DeGroot) Speel. Geralynn met the love of her life, Howard DeCleene, in 1977. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married on June 9th 1979.
Geralynn was a passionate cross-stitcher and lover of all things Disney. She spent her days reading and had a particular interest in United States history. She loved her children and grandchildren fiercely and was happiest when her entire family was together.
Geralynn is survived by her husband, Howard; three sisters, Mary Ann Speel; Susan (Gerald) Hamill, and Barbara (Michael) Matter; two brothers, Lawrence F. Speel, and Michael (Lavern) Speel. Geralynn is also survived by her three children, Matthew (Katie) DeCleene; Christopher (Hang Dang) DeCleene; Kathryn (Daniel Berger) DeCleene; and five grandchildren, Morgan and Kevin DeCleene and Cameron, Ethan, and Alexander DeCleene. Geralynn was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Leona Speel.
A mass of the resurrection will take place at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 500 W Marquette St, Appleton, WI 54911, with a visitation preceding 2 hours prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, 1815 E Wisconsin Ave, Appleton, WI 54911, later that day at 2:30 PM.
To quote Geralynn, "Life is uncertain, eat dessert first.”
