Gerard (Jerry) Cain, longtime resident of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025 at The Long Island State Veteran's Home in Stony Brook, New York, at the age of 94.

Born on June 22, 1931, in Manhattan, Gerard lived a long, full life marked by devotion to family, service to his country, and a lifelong dedication to his work. Gerard shared 66 loving years of marriage with his late wife, Margaret (Peggy),with whom he built a loving, warm and welcoming home in Westbury, NY.

Gerard proudly served in the United States Air Force, an experience that shaped his sense of responsibility, discipline, and patriotism. After his military service, he built a distinguished career with American Totalisator, working at many of the nation's most prominent racetracks, including Belmont Park, Roosevelt Raceway, Saratoga Race Course, Churchill Downs, and Pimlico, among others.

In addition to his career, Gerard served as Vice-President of Local Union 1501 IBEW, where he was known for his fairness, steady leadership, and unwavering support for his colleagues. His dedication to advocating for others reflected the same selfless character he showed throughout all aspects of his life

He is survived by his five children-Gerard Cain, Jeanne Kulka, Cathy Ryan, Michael Cain, and Julia Truono-all of whom carry forward his values and his deep love of family. He was a beloved grandfather to 13 grandchildren: Christopher, Allison, Marisha, Jennifer, Carolann, Kerry, Danny, Katie, Taylor, Kyle, Samantha, Melissa, and Joe.

Gerard's legacy continues through his nine great-grandchildren: Wiley, Olivia, Harper, Avery, Connal, Jack, Holly, Carter and Mateo.

Those who knew Gerard remember him as a mild-mannered, deeply selfless man. He had a fierce sense of privacy and never wanted to put anyone out for any of his needs. Gerard consistently put others first, offering quiet support, loyalty, and unwavering kindness. His gentle presence and humble strength were constants in the lives of those he loved.

Gerard will be remembered for his warmth, his integrity, his steady nature, and the immense pride he took in his family. His presence was a calming and reassuring force, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace.
