Van Buren--- Gerard M. Chasse, 91, peacefully entered into Heaven and into the loving embrace of his late wife on July 30, 2025. He was born May 30, 1934 in Madawaska, a son of the late Eddie and Artheline (Lausier) Chasse. Gerard last worked at the former Madawaska and Van Buren McDonalds for many years. He also worked several years at McCains potato processing and he and his wife made shoes out of their home. Gerard was a jack-of-all-trades and never had any issue finding work nor getting the job done, but adored caring for Van Buren's former convent and the local nuns. He enjoyed woodworking and was able to build several of his children's kitchens. Gerard and his wife had the best sense of humor and loved to entertain their family and friends with their many dry jokes. He is survived by eight children, Wallace Chasse and his wife Nancy of Mapleton, Phil Chasse and his wife Anita of Alabama, Norm Chasse and his wife Jacqueline of Virgina, Tom Chasse and his wife Bonnie of Mexico, ME, Cindy Doucette and her husband Steve of Van Buren, Dorine Thompson and her husband Tom of New Jersey, Peter Chasse and his wife Tonnya of Winslow, and Sue Trumble of No. Carolina; 17 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alouida Dubay of Caribou, and Wilma Madore of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Gerard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lorraine (Ruest) Chasse, and six siblings, Julia Roy, Viola Beverage, Sister Dorina Chasse, scim, and brothers Nelson, Harold and Donald Chasse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Church, Van Buren. Relatives and friends may greet the family Tuesday evening 6-8:00 PM and Wednesday morning 8:30- 9:30 AM at Lajoie Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren.
