Gerard Lozano Obituary

Gerard J. "GJ" Lozano, 58, of Fort Madison, passed away at 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

He was born on Jan. 29, 1964, in Fort Madison, to Rito and Paula Porrez Lozano. He married Lisa L. Wetteland on Nov. 11, 2000 in Fort Madison.

He was a correctional officer at the Iowa State Penitentiary and a member of the Fort Madison Lulac Club #304. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and enjoyed coaching football and wrestling. He loved fishing, the Chicago Cubs, the Iowa Hawkeyes and arguing with people.

GJ is survived by his wife, Lisa Lozano of Fort Madison; two sons, Diego and Mateo Lozano of Fort Madison; two honorary daughters, Neleh and Lulu Lozano of Des Moines; three brothers, Sam (Laura) Lozano, Travis Lozano of Fort Madison, and Dan (Nancy) Stout of Keller, Texas;six sisters, Rita Cangas of Des Moines, Lali (Rick) Leach of Tahlequah, Okla., Sheri Lozano-Dobbs of Fort Madison, Pam Lozano of Fort Madison, Renay (Memo) Dominguez of Mexico, and Betsi Lozano of Fort Madison.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ty Lozano.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22, at the Fort Madison Lulac Club, 1424 36th St., Fort Madison. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
