Gerard Miller Obituary

Gerard "Gerry" Miller, 67, of Latrobe, passed peacefully at home on Nov. 2, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is now reunited with his father, Hilary; brother, Dan; and great nephew, Dax. He leaves behind his mother, Catherine "Kitty"; brother, Tom (Stel); sister, Dawna; brother, John; sister-in-law, Pam; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and their spouses and significant others. Gerry led an adventurous life and saw many places. He spent a few years on an Army base in Germany and another few in Arizona before moving back home to Latrobe. He went on hunting trips to Colorado and Canada with his brothers, great-nephew, and close friends. He would always say you have to take a little J germeister with you because that is a hunter's warmth. Gerry also enjoyed the ocean. He visited East Coast beaches with his brother Dan and Tom, along with Tom's family. Through the years, his travels slowed, but he always loved hearing stories from his nieces and nephews about their adventures and vacations. Gerry had a close-knit circle of friends from the local sportsmen's club, which he considered to be like family. Many laughs and stories were shared over an ice-cold Budweiser. For many years, friends from the club, along with his brothers, would partake in the reenactment of the mountain men days and eventually created a club of their own. It was a perfect mix of historical education and jovial celebrations. He will forever be known as the uncle that gifted a knife for every occasion and for his use of the phrases "you see what I'm sayin'," "that's what I'm talkin' about," and "hey hoss." One of the last sentiments he wrote in a card to his great nephew was "Find the good in everything and you will have a happy life." And a happy life is what he wished for everyone. Gerry might be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts. Gerry was able to pass at home with comfort and dignity from the tireless effort and care provided by his sister Dawna and mother. He was at peace with his earthly time and found joy in prayer and strength in scripture, guiding his final journey. His family would like to express thanks for the wonderful help and care given by Lisa and Amber from Independence Hospice. Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, at LOPATICH-BRINKER FUNERAL HOME LLC, 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. Members of the St. John Rosary Altar Christian Mothers will recite the Rosary at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2025, in the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Church, Latrobe, with the Rev. E. George Saletrik as celebrant. Everyone is asked to please go directly to church. Private interment will follow at Unity Cemetery.
