Gerard "Jerry" Vasak, a lifelong New Yorker, passed away on December 9, 2025, in Flushing, Queens, New York. He was 69 years old. Jerry was born on August 5, 1956, in Jamaica, Queens, New York, and remained deeply rooted in the city he loved throughout his life. Jerry was a proud graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School, Class of 1974. He dedicated his working life as a postman, serving his community with reliability, humility, and a strong sense of duty. He grew up in Kew Gardens moving to Garden City wit his family. When they passed he moved back to Kew Gardens places that reflected his enduring connection to the neighborhoods and people of the city. A New Yorker through and through, Jerry carried that identity with pride. He was an avid fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants, following his teams with loyalty and enthusiasm through every season. He was also a passionate bowler, spending many hours at the lanes, where his steady presence and friendly demeanor were well known. Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Raymond Albert Vasak and Margaret Mary Vasak (née Dirr); his siblings, Thomas Francis Vasak and BettyAnne Vasak; nine aunts and uncles; and eleven cousins. He is survived by his aunts Anne Marie Hannon and Sabina Marie Grimmelbein; his uncles William Edward Hannon, James Aloysius Dirr, and Francis Leo O'Brien; and a large and devoted extended family of thirty-nine cousins. A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 17, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, 990 Holzheimer Street, Franklin Square, New York. Interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. John Catholic Cemetery, 80-01 Metropolitan Avenue, Middle Village, New York. There will be no calling hours. Jerry will be remembered for his quiet presence, his dedication to his work, his love of sports and bowling, and his lifelong devotion to New York City.
