Gerardo De La Torre, age 42 of Amarillo, passed away very unexpectedly in Colorado on August 26, 2025.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 South Georgia. The Rev. Greg Corona of Hillside Christian Church will officiate.
Gerardo was born on March 21, 1983, in Borger, Texas. He graduated from Pampa High School and went on to build a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication. On November 5, 2011, he married the love of his life, Jessica Franks, in Amarillo. Together, they created a home and a family that Gerardo was immensely proud of.
Gerardo was, at heart, a big kid—full of laughter, warmth, and joy. He had a deep love for the outdoors and looked forward each year to trout fishing trips in Colorado, where he made lasting memories with his family.
A devoted husband and father, Gerardo worked tirelessly to provide for his loved ones. For the past nine years, he was a dedicated employee at Owens-Corning. He had a love for spicy food, a deep appreciation for bluegrass music, and an easy smile that could light up any room.
Gerardo's legacy is one of hard work, devotion, and joy in the simple things—family, nature, and a good laugh.
Gerardo is survived by his wife, Jessica; his daughter Lexy; his two sons, Austyn and Ryder; his in-laws, Phil and Leasa Franks; and his beloved four-legged companions, Scout, his pup, and Comet the cat.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers to please consider donating to a benefit fund set up for his children. The De La Torre Family Fund c/o Amarillo National Bank, you can make it at any ANB Branch.
