Gerardo Loa Jr. proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era, from 1965 until 1967, and continued his service in the reserves for several years afterward. He dedicated over four decades to his role as a professional forklift operator at the Levelland Cotton Compress. He embraced retirement, finding joy in tinkering with his cars and trucks in the comfort of his shop located at his home. He delighted in collecting and restoring old classic cars, often attending car shows to showcase his passion for vintage automobiles. Gerardo also found great enjoyment in watching custom car restoration TV shows. His personal collectionincluded a1957 Chevy Bel Air, a 1969 Mercury Ragtop Convertible, and a 1934 Ford Pickup, each one a source of great pride for him. Among his other hobbies, he enjoyed watching late-night talk shows and attending swap meets. He dearly loved his family and valued the moments shared together. His family and friends describe him as the kindest and most gentle humble man. Gerardo embodied these virtues in every aspect of his character. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and cherished friends.

Gerardo, my favorite cool, Hippie uncle! There are simply no words to express my admiration, gratitude, and love for you. One of my favorite memories is from the holidays after I returned from my mission trip. I had lived in Vietnam and Cambodia and I mentioned living in Ho Chi Minh City and you briefly shared about a food stand. Surprisingly enough I knew exactly the place you were talking about and walked those streets often during my stay there. We bonded over the area and the food. I felt and still feel, so honored to have been to places you served; not many people have that connection with someone. You were a kind, gentle spirit and I am so grateful to be your niece. I love you, miss you!

There are so many things I admired about you, your quiet strength, your caring heart, and your laid-back easy-going personality.
Thank you for being an amazing brother. I am forever proud of you and I love and miss you already.

Gerado, Thank you for the grooviest memories of my teenage life! You were the "coolest " person I ever met!
Riding around in the Swamp Witch van and the old one too! Cruising around good ole lively Levelland. You having us whistle at the guys at the park and man did they love it! You would get a big o laugh out of it. Yeah, great are the memories that bring a smile to my face. Pumping gas into the customer´s vehicles at your Gas Station. Rushing to the store during our Compress breaks to buy each of us our own avocado, bag of Fritos and some Louisiana hot sauce! Yum! Wearing hip-huggers bell bottoms jeans. The best! cherish memories of the hippie times of our lives. Love you, Brother. Peace until we meet again up in the sky. You belong to God.
