Trabajó como pintor y reparador, y fue voluntario como jardinero en la comunidad.
A Gerardo le sobreviven su hijo Aarón Torres, sus tres hermanas: Olivia Torres, Angélica Torres, Ana Torres y su hermano Luis Torres, así como sus sobrinos y sobrinas.
Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, María Teresa y Luis Torres y su hermano Jaime Torres
