Gerda Louise Shreve, of Holgate, Ohio passed away peacefully at VanCrest Healthcare in the early morning hours of December 2nd, 2025, with family by her side.
Born in Erie, PA on November 11th, 1936, Gerda lived a life marked by love and devotion to her family. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength of spirit, and the warmth she brought to everyone who knew her.
Gerda is survived by her sister Anita Wolfe of Olathe, Kansas, brother Ralph Koffler of Arizona as well as her many nieces, nephews and cousins. Daughter Julie Stevens and son-in-law, Glenn of Defiance, Ohio and grandson Matthew. Her daughter Deborah Indseth, son-in-law, Kris of Shinnston of West Virginia and grandson Justin (Breanne). As well as great-grandsons Austin and Declan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph & Clara (Kolb) Koffler, who immigrated from Germany and settled in Erie, Pennsylvania; her sister Linda Anderson; her husband Julius George Shreve; and her son George Steven Shreve.
Gerda was a Navy wife and enjoyed being stationed in Hawaii, Bermuda and Florida. In later years she loved the mountain life in Franklin, NC. She moved to Ohio to live out her last few years with family and touched the lives of many at the assisted living facility and later in the nursing home.
Gerda and Julius' ashes will be buried together next to her parents at Erie County Memorial Gardens next summer. Family and friends wanting details are encouraged to send an email to: [email protected].
