Gregory James Cooper, of San Diego, California, was born on October 15, 1959, and passed away on November 20, 2025. Greg lived a life marked by kindness, humility, and a genuine love for people. He felt most at home in nature, spending years surfing, going to the desert, camping, gardening, and exploring the outdoors.
Greg had a remarkable gift for connection, the kind of person who could walk into a room and make every single person feel seen, welcomed, and valued. His quick humor, warm presence, and big heart brought light to all who knew him.
Greg is survived by his loving wife, Debbie; his daughters, Karli Kurahara (Mason) and Hannah Barner (Kyle); and his cherished grandchildren, Kinsley, Addison, and Cooper Barner, who brought him endless joy. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Cooper (Marvin), and his brother, Kent Cooper (Lynn). He will be remembered not only for the love he gave his family but also for the countless ways he helped others, encouraged those who were struggling, and opened his heart without hesitation. May those who loved him find comfort knowing he is at peace, and that the legacy of his compassion and his joy lives on through the many lives he touched.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, December 13th, at 10:00am with a reception to follow. We welcome guests to honor his memory in casual attire and in any colors that feel right to you. Please come as you are.
