Germaine E. Leston

Germaine E. "Gerry" Leston, age 77, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2023, at the Veterans Administration Healthcare Center in Brockton, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family.  Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on December 5, 1945, he was the son of Edward and Lena (Zizis) Leston.  Gerry was raised in Norwood, where he attended Norwood High School.  In 1964 Gerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, proudly serving his country.  He deployed overseas to Vietnam, spending a year in country, earning the rank of Private First Class.  Upon his discharge from the Marine Corps in 1968, Gerry returned home to Norwood and began working as a carpenter.

 

Gerry married his beloved wife, Barbara A. Ciaccio, on October 26, 1969. They lived in Franklin, Norwood, Mansfield, and East Walpole before moving their family to West Walpole. Gerry also worked at Natick Labs as a security guard and pipefitter.

 

He enjoyed playing hockey as a youth. He looked forward to hunting and fishing with his sons and Uncle Johnny. He also loved to Polka.

 

He was immensely proud of his service to his country, knowing the sacrifices that he made were eventually appreciated by a grateful nation.  Gerry was a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV.

 

Beloved husband of Barbara A. Leston.

Loving father of Shawn G. Leston and his wife, Dee, of New Hampshire, Christopher J. Leston and his wife, Emily Phinney, of New Hampshire, and Kerra A. Leston of Walpole.

Cherished grandfather of Sasha, William, Sophia, Oliver, and Isla.

Devoted son of Lena (Zizis) Leston of East Walpole and the late Edward Leston.

Brother of Paula Rollins and her husband, William, of Wrentham and Nancy Hernandez and her husband, Richard, of Lawrence, Kansas.

 

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Gerry's Life Celebration on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.

 

All are invited to gather in the funeral home on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 9:00 AM, prior to Gerry's Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Saint Jude's Church, 86 Main Street, Norfolk at 10:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
