Gerri Marie Grell, 56, of Hibbing, MN passed away November 21, 2025 at the University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis following a year of significant health challenges.
Gerri was born on February 24, 1969, in Grand Rapids, MN to Merlyn "Bud" and Jeanette (Baratto) Grell. She graduated from Nashwauk-Keewatin High School in 1988 and went on to study culinary arts at Hibbing Community College. Gerri worked at Access North Center for Independent Living. Gerri was known for her generous spirit, her love of children and animals, and her fascination with history, antiques and ghost stories. She was a caring person with a gift for noticing people and offering kindness, humor and gratitude to those that she encountered. Her hearty laugh and open-hearted nature will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
She is survived by her partner Patrick Hocking; her mother, Jeanette Grell; her brother Greg (Juliana) Grell; her cousin Anastasia Baratto; her uncle John and aunt Cathie Baratto; her nephews Lucas and Johnathan Grell; and many cherished cousins, extended family members and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Merlyn (Bud) Grell; her brother Gary Grell; her grandparents; her aunt Maxine and Uncle Lowell Winter; and uncle Tony Baratto.
A Celebration of life will be help from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the MJ's Lodge and Resort on Swan Lake.
