Gerri Scavuzzo

1941 - 2024

Gerri Scavuzzo passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024. She was born Nov. 22, 1941, to Fred and Katherine Rust in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
In 1974, the family moved to Lake Havasu City where she would call home until her passing. Gerri was a friend to many, a wonderful mother who was always there when we needed her the most, offering support, wisdom and love in abundance.
As a resident of Lake Havasu City for 50 years, she was often recognized around town from her pharmacy days at Walgreens where she worked for 19 years, although her favorite title was "Mimi" to her grandkids.
After retirement, she and Rich loved to travel, her favorite place though was still Laughlin. She was a member of the Eagles #4299, where she would volunteer on Friday nights and the Elks Lodge #2399
Family is what mattered most to her. She is survived by her significant other, Richard Maurer; her children, Nick Scavuzzo, Tracy (Joe) Culwell, Ronnie Scavuzzo, and Tony Scavuzzo; her grandchildren, Jessica Scavuzzo, Dylan (Katie) Culwell, Cody Scavuzzo, Taylor Scavuzzo, Joe Culwell III, and Shelby Scavuzzo; as well as many extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Rust & Katherine, and her brother Robert "Rusty" Rust.
There is something about losing a mother that is permanent and inexpressible - a wound that will never quite heal.
To honor Gerri's wishes, there will be no funeral service. There will be a celebration of life planned for November 2024. She will be missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Services were entrusted to the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
