Gerrie Westra Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 11, 2025.
Gerrie Lee Westra, born March 9, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, to Jerry and Helen Kelley, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer November 2, 2025.

Gerrie was known for her everlasting love of animals, the great outdoors, and her contagious laughter. She truly loved to fish, spending countless summer days by the water teaching her three daughters the joy and patience of casting a line. She was a caregiver, a friend, and a bright spirit who brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met.

Gerrie was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Helen Kelly; her brother, Michael; and her foster parents, Iva and Dave, and Florence.

She is survived by her husband, Patrick; sisters Beverly. Pamela and Karen, her daughters Brandy (Dean), Tina (Nick), and Sherry (Clint); her grandchildren Tre, Mia, Emma, Autumn, Adam, Julia, Reese, Dylon, and Jasmine; and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.

Memories from Brandy, her firstborn:

"When we were young, we would load up the cars, pack the cooler and fishing gear, grab Bev and the boys, and head to the lake. We always had a blast, though us kids didn't catch much - we made too much noise running and climbing around. Now, I fish with my own kids, and I'm quite enough to catch them! So, Mom, when you see me at the lake, bring me the fish."

Thoughts from Tina, her second daughter:
When thinking back mom loved the Broncos and when they were losing, she would ask me to rub her back. She said it brought them luck. She spent hours helping me with my spelling, it didn't help much but she tried

Reflections from Sherry, her youngest:

One of the things I will always cherish about mom is how she stood by me through every step of my recovery journey. She never judged, never gave up and always made time to listen when life felt overwhelming. Her faith in me gave me strength when I didn't have it myself. I'll forever be grateful for unconditional love, understanding heart and the way she reminded me I was never alone.

"The road of life is not always easy, nor is it a road always traveled together. But remember where you came from and who truly matters, because you only get one chance to love - and to let them know you love them. We love you, Mom."

Gerrie's strength, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
