Gerrit DenBoer Obituary
It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Gerrit Raymond DenBoer, Jr., age 72, of Beulah, Michigan, announce his passing on February 20, 2026. He was born on May 18, 1953.
Gerrit attended Central High School and later continued his education at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids. He proudly served his country as a veteran of the United States Coast Guard.
Throughout his life, Gerrit was dedicated to helping others. As an EMT, he played an integral role in the development and establishment of EMS services in Michigan, as well as MediVac services in Colorado. He was also passionate about advocacy work and was involved in efforts that contributed to the legalization of marijuana in Michigan.
Gerrit had a deep love for music, nature, and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed riding his motorcycles and spending time with those he cared about most. Family and friends were at the center of his life. Known for his generous heart, kindness, guidance, and infectious sense of humor, Gerrit left a lasting impression on everyone he met. His laughter and warm spirit will be deeply missed.
He is lovingly survived by his brothers, Thomas (Jackie) DenBoer and Timothy (Linda) DenBoer; his sister, Diane Griffin and Todd Blamer; along with his cherished nieces and nephews, Lindsey, Travis, Jessica, and Trevor; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerrit and Lucille DenBoer, and his nephew, Jimmy Griffin.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you honor Gerrit's memory by planting a tree or shrub, celebrating his love of nature and the outdoors. Arrangements with Jowett Family Funeral Home.
