Gertrude M. Gahres (nee McCutcheon) born October 11, 1938, passed away peacefully at home on June 3, 2025. She was 86. She is predeceased by her husband, William L. Gahres Jr., daughter Cheryl Ann (Sheree) Longstreet and her siblings Clevern, Minor, Shirley and Pat.
Trudy, as she was known by many, was born in Goshen, VA, to the late Roy and Gladys McCutcheon. She graduated from Hatboro-Horsham, where she met her loving husband, Bill. They settled in Holland, PA, where they raised their four children. Trudy was a faithful servant of the Lord and most recently attended Addisville Reformed Church in Richboro. Her love for the Lord was seen through her kindness, giving and compassion to everyone she met. She retired from Diakon Ministries in 2014 where she worked as a receptionist for many years.
Trudy loved gardening, being outdoors watching the birds and deer. She especially loved spending time at the shore. She enjoyed playing cards, cooking, reading and watching the Phillies. But the thing she loved most was spending time with her family. What gave her the most joy was seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Patti (Mark), William (Kevin) and Sally. Her grandchildren Jessica (Brian), Ashleigh (Craig), Lindsey (Mike), Dean, Nicholas (Kim). Her great grandchildren Cole, Maci, Nora, Carson, Holland, Taylor, Charleigh, Grant and Joey, her sister-in-law Nancy and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to lovingly acknowledge Esther, who has not only been our mother's daily caregiver during her years of dementia but also a devoted, loving and compassionate friend to her and our family for many years. We would also like to acknowledge and give thanks to the wonderful caregivers and nurses from Aurora Hospice, Kim, Lana, Bessie and Whitney, as well as others on their team, whose love and compassion were shown through their devotion to her.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday June 9, 2025, at Joseph A Fluehr III Funeral Home, 800 Newtown Richboro Rd, (at Holland Rd.)
Richboro, PA 18954, from 10:00am until the Prayer Service at 12:00pm. Interment immediately to follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park, 1169 Limekiln Pike, Ambler, PA 19002. In lieu of flowers, any random act of kindness would honor our mother.
