Gifford Eugene Gayhart, 67, former resident of Leslie County was born on November 8, 1957, in Ashland, Kentucky, passed away at his home in Pierson, Florida, on December 4, 2024. He was the son of the late William Edward Gayhart and the late Helen Hoskins Gayhart.

He was a dedicated professional, having honed his skills as a talented carpenter throughout his life. In his later years, his expertise as an Iron Worker at Bullitt Steel Co.

Gifford had a knack for spirited debates and enjoyed staying current on ongoing events, as well as always taking the opportunity to educate himself continuously. His keen interest in learning extended to various hobbies, including reading and mechanic work. Over the past year, he developed a passion for ancestry and genealogy, exploring his roots and sharing stories of his family history.  He also had developed a love for gardening, and he was always proud of his harvest.

He is survived by one step-son, Jason Bennett of Utopia, Texas; one brother, Jarrett Mark Gayhart of London, Kentucky; and two sisters, Saundra Gayhart of London, Kentucky, and Lisa Fee & her husband Lonnie of Hyden, Kentucky. A host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished relatives and friends also survive him.

Gifford was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Gayhart and Helen Hoskins Gayhart; his paternal grandparents, Charlie and Cora Vanover Gayhart; his maternal grandparents, Billy Hoskins and Fannie Jones Hoskins Pace; two brothers, Eddie Kent Gayhart and Charles Brent Gayhart; and sister-in-law Rose Bennett Gayhart. 

Friends and family may gather for visitation on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM at Wooton Presbyterian Church with his brother-in-law, Lonnie Fee officiating.

Interment will follow the services at the Brewer Cemetery at Wooton, KY with Ryan Fee, Dylan Fee, Jarrett Gayhart, David Fee, Lonnie Fee, and Mark Gayhart serving as pallbearers.

Arrangements are being handled carefully under the direction of Wolfe & Sons Funeral Home.
