Gilbert McClung "Gil" Gillespie Jr.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. I have many memories of Gil and the other cousins and they are a wonderful part of my childhood.

I was a member of Sunrise Presbyterian Church from 1989-1996, and although I didn't know Gil, I know the congregation will miss him. Sunrise was a very good experience for me. I suffer from stage IV CLL, and my prayers are with the family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Mr. Gillespie. I did know Mr. Gillespie, but my son, Ray Bridgeman, who had acute myeloid leukemia passed away at Duke on July 1st. and this caused me to have deep sympathy for your family. Ray was 52 and had a bone marrow transplant on July 9th. I am so sorry for your loss.

I offer my sympathy to Gil's family and friends who have been supporting him as he bravely fought for his life. I vaguely knew Gil at N.C.State and remember that he was an ardent Wolfpack fan. We both graduated and started our careers at West Virginia Pulp and Paper (later named Westvaco) in June 1963. I recognized right away that this bold young engineer was destined to be a "mover and shaker" in the company. He gave freely of his talents for the benefit of Westvaco, and I am sad for him that he had such a short time to enjoy his retirement.
