I've known Gil since we were apprentices and sometimes drove together to work. On one occasion, I remember Gil finding an Owl on the job that was trapped inside the building after all the glass was installed. It was very weak and could barely move. He gently gather it up and took it home where he cared for it until it was strong enough to release back into the wild. That's the Gil I will always remember..... a gentle giant of a man with a heart of gold.
Through the years, our careers paralleled and we would often be working for the same contractor on the same job. I was always very happy to see my old friend, Gil. He was always a gentleman and always a professional at work. I never saw Gil loose his composure even in the most stressful of situations. It was my good fortune to have known Gil. He was one of a kind and will truly be missed.
