Gilbert Madrid went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 21, 2023.

Gilbert grew up in Glendale, California. He graduated high school from Glendale High in 1957. While attending high school he belonged to the Marquis Club and remained friends with many of the members for over 65 years. After graduating High School he immediatly enlisted in the Air Force where he proudly served until 1961. Gilbert received his undergratuate degree from Cal State LA and received his Masters Degree from Pepperdine University.

In 1961 he married the love of his life Vangie Soriano. The two were married for 61 years until the time of his passing.

Gilbert spent the majority of his career in management while living in Yuma, Arizona, Anaheim and San Diego, California and eventually ending up in Bakersfield where he finished his employment with Ken County, retiring in 2015.

Gilbert was an avid golfer and also enjoyed cycling and reading. Gilbert and Vangie enjoyed traveling, which included places like Spain, Italy, Greece, and the Caribbean.

Gilbert is survived by his wife Vangie Madrid, sister Gloria Lewis, brother and sister-in-law Carlos and Barbara Madrid, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ray and Yolanda Carlson as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceding Gilbert in death was his father and mother Manuel and Juanita Madrid.

Vangie would especially like to thank Ray and Yolanda for their help and support throughout the last month as well Gloria and Carlos for their care and concern.

The service for Gilbert was held at The Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on March 29, 2023.

Gilbert is buried at the Bakersfield National Cemetery.
