Gilbert Gene Richards

Gilbert Richards was born February 2, 1964, and passed away January 17, 2026, at the age of 61.
Gilbert will be remembered for a deep love of the outdoors and a passion for adventure. He found joy in camping under the open sky, fishing by the water, and riding his bike, always appreciating the freedom these moments brought him. A natural builder and very creative soul, Gilbert loved working with his hands and bringing ideas to life. Above all, Gilbert loved to be with his family and friends.
He was known for his warm heart, steady presence, and the way he inspired others through his creativity and love for nature. Gilbert will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Julia Gaskins; son, Garry Morgan; daughter, Victoria Gaskins; and sisters, Jerri Ann Richards and Cathleen Morgan.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Joyce Richards.
Cremation was entrusted to Riley Smith & Sons Funeral Home, 517 Broad Street, Lake Charles, Louisiana.
