Gilbert Walsh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DeFiore Funeral & Cremation Service on Feb. 3, 2026.
Gilbert "Gil" P. Walsh II passed away on January 16, 2026 in Huntley, Illinois. He was at home under the care of hospice and surrounded by family and friends. Oak Park, Illinois was his birthplace on May 9, 1947. Gil was devoted to his Christian faith, dedicated to his family, and had a distinguished professional career.
Gil built a successful career in information security, working for both Unocal and TransUnion. His expertise and commitment to excellence led him to retire at the age of 51-a testament to his hard work and accomplishments in a field that was rapidly evolving during his tenure.
A man of deep faith, Gil was a Christ follower who found purpose and fulfillment through service. He was actively involved in volunteering through his church, leading small groups and welcoming others as a greeter. He dedicated his time and energy to helping others and supporting his community. Attending his grandkids various sports and activities brought him great joy.
His passion for technology extended beyond his career. He enjoyed working with computers and helping others with technology. He had a keen interest in genealogy, often exploring family history with curiosity and care.
Gil was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Walsh; his parents, Gilbert and Helen Walsh; and his grandson Parker Walsh. He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his wife Lynda Walsh; Sean and Beth Walsh; Patrick and Shelley Walsh; Ryan and Jamie Walsh; Gina Raine; Tom and Pam Raine; Matt and Stephanie Raine. He loved being the grandfather of 15, including Emma, Payton, Kate, Jacob, Samantha, Emily, Paige, Jack, Cami, MacKenzie, Preston, Abby, Heidi, Levi, and Miles. He is also survived by his brother, Gregory Walsh, and sister, Deborah Piner.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse (www.samaritanspurse.org) or Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org).
May Gil's legacy of faithfulness and service bring comfort to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 15, 2026, at 2pm followed by fellowship. The celebration will be at Willow Creek Community Church Huntley, 38W133 Huntley Rd., Dundee Township, IL.
