Gilles "Gus" Dubois, 79, of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life Monday morning, Feb. 27, 2023, at his home.
His beloved wife was the late Mildred M. Eppley Dubois, who passed away Oct. 6, 2010. Together, Gus and Mildred were blessed to share nearly 36 wonderful years of marriage.
Born Aug. 15, 1943, in Lewiston, Maine, Gus was one of 11 children born to the late Eric Dubois and Cecile Cyr Dubois.
Raised in Maine, Gus was a graduate of Monmouth Academy, Monmouth, Maine, Class of 1961.
A U.S. Army veteran, Gus honorably served his country with the Army Reserves prior to being commissioned into active service, serving for a year. Upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army Reserves, Gus attained the rank of specialist.
Relocating to Northeast Pennsylvania in 1972, Gus opened his own construction business, Gus Dubois Construction Company, operating the business until his retirement in 2012.
Gus was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, and the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
An avid fan of the New York Giants, some of Gus's other enjoyments were listening to music, especially polkas, playing cards, solving puzzles and, in more recent years, traveling with his loving fiancée of 10 years, Lucille.
Family was the center of Gus's life and he treasured every moment he shared with his loved ones. Although his presence will be deeply missed, the boundless love and devotion he had for his family will live on forever in the hearts of his loved ones.
In addition to his parents, Eric and Cecile, and his wife, Mildred, Gus was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Al Dubois.
Gus is survived by his fiancée, Lucille Ontko, Swoyersville; three children, Sherry Pitcavage and her husband, David, Swoyersville; Jason Dubois and his wife, Micheal, Dallas; and Kimberly Dubois, Swoyersville; four grandchildren, Hannah Pitcavage, Kyle Pitcavage, Alexis Dubois and Gabrielle Dubois; brothers and sisters, Roger (Pauline) Dubois, Normand Dubois, René Dubois, Paul (Cheryl) Dubois, Pauline (Roger) Blanchette and Marc Dubois, all of Maine; and Claudette Bell, Hawaii; as well as countless nieces and nephews.

Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his pastor, officiating. Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville, where military honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army.

I will miss you Gus. We had some beautiful years togather in Litchfield. You were always fun and challenging to play cards and games with. Competive as hell. And the beauty of it all you never got pissed off. I will never forget the fun we had picking berries for the family or Mrs. Cutler. Picking string beans for Percy Gowell or Roy Berry. The hours we spent fishing. You made life good and fun for the people around you no matter what we did. You enriched us all. Love you BROTHER

My condolences to Sherry, Jason, Kimberly Dubois, and grandkids, and Lucile. Gus was the best brother ever, he will be really missed. We had great times together when I went to pa. I was best man at his wedding, and for many years after,I traveled often to see him and his family. I remember when his older daughter was born (Sherry) I had bought her a small gift,it was a beautiful little monkey. Gus and Milly thought that was so funny. These are things Thai I will never forget. Gus, we will meet again my friend, may god bless.
