Gina Torricelli Obituary

URBANA - Gina L. Torricelli, 62, of Urbana, passed away at 2:32 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, 2024, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana.

She was born Dec. 5, 1961, in Harrisburg, the daughter of Calvin and Maureen (Jones) Sutton. She married Kenneth Torricelli on Oct. 29, 1988, in Las Vegas.

Gina is survived by her mother, husband, Ken, and brother, Mike Sutton of Harrisburg. She is preceded by her father; son, Alexander Torricelli; brother, Bruce Sutton; and sister, Lorna Sutton.

Gina graduated from high school at Harrisburg. She received a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Southern Illinois University. She taught for 29 years in the English department at Urbana Alternative Education & High School. Gina touched many lives of those she taught. 

Late in life, Gina learned how to golf and was an avid golfer and cruiser. She also loved dogs, in particular her toy fox terrier, Gracie.

She is a former member of Lincolnshire Country Club and Champaign Country Club.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Gina Torricelli Memorial Fund. Condolences may be made at www.renner-wikoffchapel.
