Ginny Chesnut

Donna, Bobby, Tommy: Othertthan my own family, I remember your family since I was about 3 years old, playing outside in the summers. In later life, your mom and dad were kind enough to take our mother out to dinner several times a year. She always enjoyed spending time with them. The last time I saw your mom was at Roddy's funeral when Donna brought your mom to the funeral home. It meant a lot to Kathleen and me.
I know it hurts now, but remember that she lived a wondeful life and she was a wonderful person.
Do to work I will not be able to attend the service on Friday, but I will be thinking of you and your parents.

I came to know Ginny when she moved in to the Springs. On Monday afternoons, we´d spend time together talking, reminiscing and enjoying the outdoor courtyard on nice days. Ginny was a lovely, gentle woman who loved her family dearly and enjoyed being out doors in the fresh air. I knew her to be a woman of faith who shared her beliefs and together we´d sometimes ponder what heaven would be like. Ginny was rather quiet but always greeted me with a smile and kindness. I will miss her sweet presence and hearing all the stories about Harold and her children. May she rest in peace in the house of the Lord!

The Chesnut family and the McNerney family were neighbors in an apartment complex in Louisville´s West End in the 1950´s and our families became close friends. Every summer evening our families would gather outside on lawn chairs (this was before air conditioning!) and the adults would catch up on the days events while the kids played ball or hide and seek. Usually Harold would join us in our ball games or carry us around on his shoulders! It was great fun! Harold was the biggest kid of all! When my brother Roddy passed away a few years ago, Ginny and Donna came to the visitation and we were able to chat and catch up with our families and remember the fun we had in those early years together. Ginny was a lovely woman and a devoted mother. I feel blessed to have known her and Harold.
