Gino D'Angelo Obituary
Mr. Gino Giacinto D'Angelo, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Gino was predeceased by his parents, Carmine and Nunziata (DiProspero) D'Angelo, brother, Salvatore D'Angelo and a sister, Emilia (Salvatore) Petrella. Gino is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Albina (DiLoreto) D'Angelo, son, Carmen D'Angelo, daughter, Ann (Vito) Potenza, brother, Nicholas (Josephine) D'Angelo, sister-in-law, Norma D'Angelo, Grandchildren, Gina (Robert) Rigsby, John Potenza, Elizabeth (Gregory) Huette, Gino (Chloe) D'Angelo, Carmine (Kelsey) D'Angelo and Albino (Samantha) D'Angelo. Great-grandchildren, Robby Rigsby, Charlotte Rigsby, Ethan Huette and Donovan D'Angelo.
Gino was born in Abruzzo, Italy on November 9, 1930, and learned the trade of a bricklayer at a young age. At 17, he began his journey in search of a better life, one of freedom and opportunity. He traveled to Venezuela and then Canada, where he married Albina on September 25, 1954. He soon moved to Rochester where he made his home for the past 67 years. He worked as a Union mason at LeChase Construction for 34 dedicated years. In his free time, Gino enjoyed pasta making (especially ricotta gnocchi for his grandchildren), wine making, and gardening but cherished the time he spent with his family the most. The D'Angelo family extends their sincere gratitude to the University of Rochester Hospice team who gave Gino excellent and loving care as well as all friends, neighbors and family who looked in upon Gino.
All are welcome for visitation at the Harris Funeral Home (570 Kings Highway So.) on Friday, February 18, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. Gino's funeral service and mass of Christian burial will commence on Saturday, February 19, at 10:00am at Peace of Christ Parish at St. Ambrose Church. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow.
